Anthill Culinary (2023)
Team: Evette Cho, Andrew Choi, Anannyaa Kapur, Carolyn Kim
Design for Metaverse, Fall 2023→
Pitch Deck→

How might we encourage intercultural empathy and understanding of cultural cuisines among children through a metaverse experience? We conceptualized a metaverse game experience for Gen Alpha where players explore antholes, forage ingredients to create cultural dishes, encouraging intercultural empathy in cultural cuisines.

I led the creative direction including concept, logo, naming, designed Ant-Alien characters in Blender and integrated as avatars into the Unreal Engine 5 environment. Prototyped gameplay using high-fidelity visuals exhibiting the features for the live demo pitch reel, which I video edited in Premiere Pro.

Collaborated in a multidisciplinary team of 4, including UX/UI & interaction designers, illustrator, and 3D designers, from conceptual ideas to design rationale to high-fidelity designs.
Anti-Asian Hate Crimes Infographic (Fall 2022)
I started my research by looking at anti-Asian hate crimes and incidents. Initially, I wanted to focus on anti-Asian hate crimes in the Bay Area or California as there are many Asians here, but after extensive research, I found that there was no specific data about it; so I decided to expand out across the U.S. My map takes a look at anti-Asian hate crimes reported to police across the U.S. in the largest cities from 2019 to 2020. The typeface used is Gotham Narrow, which is a slightly condensed sans-serif that is space efficient and legible at small sizes.

Am I Real? Zine (2023)
Produced at Seoul National University for a 3-day zine workshop with Shin Shin @ SNU x CCA | Seoul Study Abroad July 2023→

What if the book was like a body that contains memories? The body contains stories that are not necessarily depicted through words but rather visuals. From found books into collages into an accordion-style zine enclosed in a sleeve case, this project explores the process of gathering information from the world around us and recalling fragments of what's left of the memory, transforming its original context to reveal a new sense of subject matter through the new creation of a small zine.

ELITE Zine Instruction Manual (Sep 2021)
Speculating a possible future by imagining an extended reality simulation game called Elite. I drew spot illustrations and full-size spreads for the zine.
Frankenstein book cover (Nov 2021)
Amplifying the concept of monstrosity by constructing a grotesque "F" out of three contrasting typefaces, ripped then stapled together, to reflect how the Creature is made up of dead animal and human parts.
Discontinuity Identified (2020)
Mixed media collage (14x17")
Acrylic paint, newspaper
Self portrait expressing the identity discontinuity that I faced at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic as racial tensions against Asians Americans became heightened.
What Have We Done? Triptych (2019)
Series of 3 mixed media pieces (24x18" each)
Newspaper, charcoal, soft pastel, acrylic paint

Who should be held responsible for all that we have done to the natural environment?

PART 1: Plastic overuse is polluting the oceans, which is detrimental to the survival of marine life.

about

Inter- is a prefix meaning between, among, and together. Through the social commentary in their films, Bong Joon Ho and Akira Kurosawa examine relationships between groups, including class hierarchy, man and animal, and people and their perceptions of reality.
